·        Bloom: clusters  of tiny, tubular, whitish to lilac-pink flowers in summer

·        Soil: well-drained; prefers loose, sandy or rocky soils with excellent drainage; tolerates poor soils with low fertility

·        Moisture: dry to medium; tolerates drought

·        Use: small area groundcover; fragrant filler between stepping stones; drape over small rocks or over ledges in rock garden

·        Care: low maintenance, once established; cut back stems as necessary to maintain appearance; best cleaned up in early spring before it resumes active growth

·        Concerns: no serious insect or disease problems; tends to rot in moist to wet soils

·        Native to: species native to southern, western, and eastern Europe

·        Notes: creeping, fine-textured, slow-growing woody-based perennial; forms a ground-hugging mat with tiny, aromatic, rounded, fuzzy blue-green leaves, densely-arranged on thin, wiry stems; plants are evergreen in mild winters (thick winter mulch may preserve green foliage in colder microclimates); flowers attract butterflies and bees; deer tolerant; air pollution tolerant
