·        Bloom Time: April to May, with sporadic bloom through September

·        Bloom: small, rich purple-pink snapdragon-like flowers in whorls at ends of red-tinged trailing stems

·        Light: part shade to full shade

·        Soil: average, well-drained, humus-rich

·        Moisture: dry to medium; most compact in moist soils, tends to open up in drier areas

·        Use: weed-smothering ground cover for shady areas; underplanting; edger (but spread must be controlled); mask for dying bulb foliage

·        Care: after flowering, cut back to encourage fresh foliage cover; if plants become leggy, shear back to shape; shear back in spring to stimulate healthy new growth; easily divided in spring or fall

·        Concerns: no serious insect or disease problems; dislikes high heat and humidity

·        Native to: species native to temperate regions of Europe, western Asia, and North Africa

·        Notes: semi-evergreen; mat-forming; heart-shaped, toothed, silvery-white leaves with thin green margins; drought-tolerant; rabbit and deer resistant
