·        Use: borders, cottage gardens, open woodland areas; attracts bees, butterflies

·        Care: remove spent flowers to encourage new blooms

·        Concerns: no serious insect or disease problems; root rot can occur in wet, poorly-drained soils; leaf spots, rusts, powdery mildew

·        Native to: Central Great Plains of North America

·        Notes: stout, unbranched stems, 2-4 feet. tall, bear opposite pairs of blue-green, waxy leaves; salt tolerant
