·        Bloom: tiny, star-shaped golden-yellow flowers (to 1/2 inch) bloom in flat-topped clusters; flowers acquire pink tones with age and mature to small fruits which turn russet red in fall

·        Soil: average, well-drained

·        Moisture: dry to medium; avoid over-watering; protect from excessive winter wet

·        Use: beds and borders, ground cover, rock garden,  rock wall crevasses, containers

·        Care: low maintenance; cut back after flowering to maintain shape or leave seed heads over winter; for ground-cover, tip cuttings may be rooted directly in soil around established plants; may be divided in spring

·        Concerns: no serious insect or disease problems; may be subject to crown or root rots in wet conditions

·        Native to: species native to northern China and Kamchatka Peninsula

·        Notes: compact, low-growing, semi-evergreen succulent forms a foliage mat which spreads by trailing stems and underground rhizomes;  gray-green foliage with thick, scalloped, spoon-shaped dark-green leaves (3/4 to 1 1/2 inches long); leaves turn beet-red to purple in fall; tolerates drought, shallow rocky soil, and air pollution; deer tolerant; rabbit tolerant
