·        Care: clip plants lightly immediately after blooming to encourage a dense habit

·        Concerns: does not seem to be bothered by powdery mildew to the same extent as other species of phlox; rabbits like this plant

·        Native to: species native to eastern and central United States

·        Notes: low mound or cushion of dark green needle-shaped leaves; deer resistant
