·        Use: shade accent plant in borders, mass planting, ground cover, shady woodland, and cottage gardens

·        Care: water deeply with regularity during first season; thereafter, water regularly to maintain even moisture; prune spent flower stems; maintain spent foliage over winter to protect crown; apply light winter mulch after ground freezes; in spring, remove mulch and cut back foliage

·        Concerns: no serious insect or disease problems; watch for aphids

·        Native to: species native to the Caucasus

·        Notes: mounding habit; large (10-12 inch) heart-shaped leaves emerge silvery with deep green veins and mature to iridescent silvery-white, outlined in emerald green; flowers attract bees; cold hardy; deer resistant; tolerates acidic soils
